Volkswagen unveils India-bound Tayron R-Line before official debut

Volkswagen has revealed the India-spec Tayron R-Line ahead of its official launch, offering a first look at the brand’s upcoming premium SUV for the Indian market. Positioned above the Tiguan, the Tayron is expected to strengthen Volkswagen’s SUV portfolio and cater to buyers looking for a larger, more feature-rich offering with sporty R-Line styling.

In terms of design, the Tayron R-Line sports a bold and aggressive appearance, highlighted by R-Line specific bumpers, larger alloy wheels, blacked-out exterior elements, and subtle chrome accents. The SUV carries Volkswagen’s latest design language, with sleek LED headlamps, a wide grille, and a strong shoulder line that gives it a commanding road presence. Overall, it is expected to appeal to customers seeking a blend of sophistication and sportiness.

Inside, the India-bound Tayron R-Line is likely to feature a premium cabin with a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, sporty R-Line branding, and high-quality upholstery. Advanced features such as connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, and a comprehensive suite of safety systems are also expected, aligning with Volkswagen’s global standards.

Under the hood, the Tayron R-Line for India is expected to be powered by a turbo-petrol engine, possibly paired with a DSG automatic gearbox. While official specifications and pricing will be announced closer to launch, the Tayron is anticipated to compete with models like the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Meridian. Volkswagen is expected to introduce the Tayron in India in the coming months, potentially via the CBU or CKD route.
