The 2025 Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) has reaffirmed the importance of safety in the Indian auto industry. Due to stricter testing procedures, only a small number of cars were able to obtain the highly sought-after 5-star safety rating, making them the safest cars on the market right now in India.
Mahindra XEV 9e – India’s Safest Car of 2025
The Mahindra XEV 9e is at the top of the list, having received perfect scores of 45/49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP) and 32/32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP). These figures demonstrate sophisticated restraint mechanisms and a strong body shell. With its seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), 360-degree camera system, and reinforced crash structures, the SUV sets the safety standard in India.
Mahindra BE 6 – Electric Safety Leader

With an almost flawless AOP score and kid protection features, it is comparable to the XEV 9e in terms of overall safety ratings. Mahindra Thar Roxx – Rugged Yet Secure
The Mahindra Thar Roxx, which is well-known for its off-road prowess, shocked many by earning a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, making it India’s first body-on-frame SUV. Safety features like rollover mitigation, ESC, side-impact beams, and multiple airbags make it safer for both urban and outdoor use, and its robust ladder-frame design has been tuned for impact absorption.
Tata Punch EV – Affordable Yet Highly Safe
Tata Motors is still known for producing safe automobiles. Combining affordability and a 5-star crash safety rating, the Tata Punch EV comes in at number four. Skoda Kylaq – Compact but Strong
The Škoda Kylaq, a sub-4-meter SUV that yet offers exceptional safety, rounds off the list. Its reinforced body structure, six airbags, ESC, ISOFIX mounts, and a well-designed crumple zone helped it earn 30.88/32 in AOP and 45/49 in COP. Families looking for a small car without sacrificing safety will find it to be the perfect option.
