On September 5, 2025, French automaker Citroën is scheduled to introduce the eagerly awaited Basalt X in India. The goal of the Basalt X, a high-end, feature-rich version of the Basalt coupe-SUV, is to increase Citroën’s market share in the cutthroat mid-size SUV market. In order to provide interested purchasers an early opportunity to reserve their unit, the business has already begun to accept pre-bookings for the car for a nominal fee of ₹11.

The Basalt X will improve on the performance and design of the standard Basalt while adding new features and comfort improvements. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera system are anticipated highlights. In terms of safety, the SUV is probably going to have cruise control, traction control, ABS with EBD, and six airbags, making it a formidable rival in its class.
It is anticipated that Citroën’s well-proven 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, mated to both manual and automatic transmission options, will continue to power the Basalt X. Industry experts predict that Citroën will position the Basalt X competitively against rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, making it an appealing option for SUV consumers seeking flair and value, even if actual price will only be disclosed at the launch.
This introduction is also a major component of Citroën India’s “Shift Into the New 2.0” strategy, which aims to improve its product lineup by adding more feature-rich options in response to consumer input. When the Citroën Basalt X officially debuts on Indian roads in September, it is anticipated to garner significant attention because to its aggressive posture, high-end features, and dramatic appearance.
