e-Vitara EV Launch: Maruti Suzuki Introduces BaaS Starting ₹10.99 Lakh

The all-new Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara marks a significant milestone for Maruti Suzuki as the brand officially steps into India’s fast-growing electric vehicle space. With an introductory Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) price starting at ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the e-Vitara aims to make EV ownership more accessible to a wider range of buyers. The BaaS model separates the battery cost from the vehicle price, substantially lowering the upfront investment required to own an electric SUV.

Built on a dedicated electric platform, the e-Vitara combines modern styling with advanced technology and practicality. The SUV features a bold exterior design, aerodynamic elements, and a spacious cabin equipped with a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, and advanced safety features. Maruti Suzuki is expected to offer multiple battery pack options, delivering competitive driving range figures suited for both city commutes and longer highway journeys.

The key highlight of the launch is the innovative Battery-as-a-Service ownership model. Under this structure, customers purchase the vehicle while subscribing separately to the battery usage plan, paying based on usage or a fixed monthly fee. This approach not only reduces the initial purchase price but also addresses concerns related to battery degradation, long-term replacement costs, and resale value—factors that often influence EV buying decisions in India.

With the e-Vitara, Maruti Suzuki positions itself strongly against emerging electric SUVs in the segment, signaling a broader electrification strategy for the Indian market. The competitive pricing under the BaaS model, combined with the brand’s extensive dealership and service network, could play a crucial role in accelerating EV adoption across the country. The launch underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility while offering customers a practical and affordable pathway into electric driving.
