With its luxury brand Genesis, South Korean automaker Hyundai is preparing to make a daring entry into India’s high-end car market. Genesis, which is well-known throughout the world for its innovative design, cutting-edge technology, and exquisite craftsmanship, is currently being assessed for a formal entry into India, a market that is becoming more and more interested in luxury automobiles.
What is Genesis?
Genesis was created as a stand-alone luxury brand under the Hyundai Motor Group in 2015 to rival international behemoths like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW. It immediately became well-known for its award-winning models, including the GV70 and GV80 SUVs and the G70, G80, and G90 sedans. Next-generation tech features, premium interiors, and striking style are what make Genesis cars so popular.
Despite having a smaller volume than international markets, India’s luxury car market is expanding gradually. India has become a desirable location for luxury car brands due to its growing infrastructure, growing middle class, and rising disposable income. By launching Genesis as a cutting-edge luxury substitute, Hyundai may be attempting to challenge the segment’s historical domination by German companies.
Before making a final decision, industry insiders said Hyundai is carrying out feasibility studies and closely monitoring the dynamics of the Indian market. The brand’s path in India will be greatly influenced by elements including import taxes, pricing strategy, local assembly options, and dealership networks.
What to Expect if Genesis Enters India
Genesis is anticipated to start with CBU (Completely Built-Up) imports of a few flagship models to test the waters if the launch is approved. The G80 sedan and GV80 luxury SUV, which are positioned to rival the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, and Audi Q7, are probably part of this.
In order to increase pricing competitiveness and broaden its inventory to include additional models and electric vehicles under the Genesis Electrified series, Hyundai may eventually think about CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly in India.
A Game Changer for Hyundai in India?
Currently the second-largest automobile manufacturer in India, Hyundai is renowned for producing dependable, feature-rich mass-market automobiles. With the launch of Genesis, it would enter a new market segment: luxury consumers. In addition to improving the brand’s reputation, this would provide consumers with a novel, cutting-edge option in the luxury market.
