Hyundai Motor India has officially entered the commercial mobility segment with the launch of taxi-focused versions of the Grand i10 Nios and Aura. Branded as Hyundai Prime, the new range has been introduced to cater specifically to fleet operators and app-based cab aggregators, with prices starting at ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Hyundai Prime HB, based on the Grand i10 Nios, is positioned as an affordable and efficient hatchback for urban taxi use, while the Hyundai Prime SD, derived from the Aura compact sedan, targets operators looking for added boot space and comfort for longer trips. The Aura-based Prime SD is priced from ₹6.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
Both models are powered by Hyundai’s proven 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, tuned for reliability and fuel efficiency. To further reduce running costs, Hyundai is also offering factory-fitted CNG variants, making the Prime range suitable for high-mileage commercial usage.
In terms of safety, Hyundai has equipped the Prime taxi models with essential features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, speed-limiting functionality, and seatbelt reminders, aligning with current safety norms for commercial vehicles. The cars are also engineered for durability, with longer service intervals and components designed to handle demanding fleet operations.
Hyundai is backing the Prime range with dedicated support for fleet customers, including special service packages, extended warranty options, and priority servicing, aimed at maximizing vehicle uptime and lowering total cost of ownership.
With the launch of the Prime HB and Prime SD, Hyundai aims to strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly growing taxi and shared-mobility market, competing directly with established players in the commercial passenger vehicle space. The new models are now available across select Hyundai dealerships in India.
