Starting July 23, 2025, all versions of Maruti Suzuki’s premium MPV, the XL6, will come equipped with six airbags as standard. In the past, the base Zeta trim had only four airbags, whereas the higher versions had six. This update significantly improves occupant safety for all passengers by adding dual front, side, and curtain airbags to even the base XL6. This action is part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader safety plan to install six airbags in all of its passenger cars by the end of 2025.
In addition to the safety increase, the XL6’s price has slightly increased, ranging from ₹7,000 to ₹12,000, depending on the model. The top-end Alpha+ variant now has an ex-showroom pricing of around ₹14.96 lakh, while the base model now starts at almost ₹11.84 lakh. The MPV has not undergone any significant modifications other than the inclusion of an airbag.
The 1.5L gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology is still available mechanically in the XL6, mated to either a 6-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Zeta model also comes with a CNG option. Cruise control, touchscreen infotainment, ISOFIX mounts, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Hold Assist, and linked car technology are still standard or variant-specific features.
This update is in line with changing consumer demands and Indian regulatory trends, and it demonstrates Maruti Suzuki’s dedication to enhancing vehicle safety. The XL6, which is already well-liked for its practicality and comfort, is now an even more alluring option for families who are concerned about safety.
