Carens Clavis EV Arrives: 7-Seater Electric MPV Priced at ₹17.99 Lakh

Kia has formally introduced the Carens Clavis EV, an all-electric seven-seater Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) with an introductory price of ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), significantly bolstering India’s expanding EV market. An intriguing addition to the Indian EV market, the Clavis EV is positioned as a family-friendly yet contemporary offering that blends eco-friendly mobility with spacious practicality.

A New Era of Family EVs

Hailed as India’s first mass-market seven-seater electric MPV, the Carens Clavis EV was created especially for larger families who want to go electric without sacrificing performance, comfort, or capacity. Based on Kia’s cutting-edge E-GMP platform customized for MPVs, the car promises long-distance driving and urban convenience.

Performance and Range

Insiders say the Carens Clavis EV will have a battery pack that is between 60 and 70 kWh, with a claimed range of over 450 km on a single charge (ARAI certified). Kia has not yet revealed the full technical specifications, but it is anticipated to have fast-charging capabilities, allowing 10-80% charge in less than 45 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Design and Interiors

The Clavis EV’s aerodynamically tuned wheels, closed front grille, and distinctive LED DRLs give it a clean yet aggressive exterior look that is true to the Carens heritage. With three rows of seats, a huge touchscreen entertainment system, heated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a fully digital instrument cluster, the MPV boasts a luxurious interior.

Technology and Safety

The Carens Clavis EV is equipped with a host of features including:

  • ADAS Level 2 driver assistance system
  • 6 airbags as standard
  • 360-degree camera
  • Vehicle-to-load (V2L) function
  • Over-the-air (OTA) updates
  • Connected car features via Kia Connect

Charging and Infrastructure Support

With the debut of Clavis, Kia will introduce a specialized EV service and charging infrastructure. Customers may anticipate free home charger installation, access to a large public charging network, and round-the-clock roadside EV support throughout India.

Pricing and Variants

The Carens Clavis EV will likely come in a number of trim levels, with the top-end model projected to cost approximately ₹22 lakh. It will be launched at a competitive starting price of ₹17.99 lakh. Kia wants to make the Clavis EV a popular electric vehicle for Indian families by fusing technology, size, and price.

Kia is establishing a new standard in the seven-seater electric market with this introduction. Future products such as the Hyundai 7-seater SUV based on the Ioniq and the Mahindra XUV.e8 and Tata Avinya are anticipated to compete with the Carens Clavis EV.
