One of India’s most recognizable SUVs, the Mahindra Thar is adored for its tough appearance, off-road capabilities, and allure for a laid-back lifestyle. In order to stay ahead of the competition, the business is now preparing to introduce the redesigned Thar in September 2025, which will include updated features, a new design, and some contemporary technology. Mahindra is concentrating on enhancing comfort and convenience for urban consumers without sacrificing the SUV’s adventurous appeal, even though its fundamental makeup has not changed.
With a dramatic double-stacked grille, LED projector headlights with C-shaped DRLs, and a reworked bumper for a more aggressive posture, the 2018 Thar facelift’s exterior features a front fascia inspired by the Thar Roxx. New alloy wheels and updated LED taillights are also anticipated for the rear. These minor improvements give the SUV a more upscale appearance while maintaining its tough character, even if the silhouette stays the same.
The Thar facelift’s cabin is about to undergo a significant makeover once you go inside. Mahindra’s AdrenoX software will power the SUV’s huge 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Like the Scorpio N and XUV700, it is also anticipated to have a flat-bottom steering wheel, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and a fully digital instrument cluster. Although ADAS is improbable at this time, certain higher trims may even have additional safety features, ambient lighting, and a 360-degree camera.
It is not anticipated that the facelifted Thar would undergo any mechanical modifications under the hood. The 2.0-liter turbo-petrol, 2.2-liter diesel, and 1.5-liter diesel engines will remain, with the option of an automatic or manual gearbox. RWD and 4WD versions will still be available to customers, guaranteeing that it will continue to be a flexible SUV for both off-road excursions and city driving. Mahindra is only selling hard-top trims with the facelift, according to reports, and has canceled the convertible soft-top model.
Depending on the model, the 2019 Mahindra Thar facelift is anticipated to retail for between ₹12 lakh and ₹18 lakh (ex-showroom). With deliveries beginning in October 2025, reservations are anticipated to open shortly after the formal introduction in September. The Thar facelift seeks to appeal to both enthusiasts and first-time purchasers in the market by striking the ideal mix between a feature-rich modern car and a lifestyle SUV.
