Mercedes-Benz has officially confirmed that its all-electric CLA EV will debut in India in April 2026, marking an important step in the brand’s expanding electric vehicle strategy. The launch brings back the CLA nameplate in a fully electric form, following the discontinuation of the ICE-powered version in the Indian market. The CLA EV is expected to replace the A-Class sedan and also fill the gap left by discontinued entry-level EVs, strengthening Mercedes-Benz’s premium electric lineup in India.
A key highlight of the upcoming CLA EV is its impressive claimed driving range of over 700 km on a single charge. Globally, the model is offered with an 85 kWh battery pack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing around 268 hp and 335 Nm of torque, delivering a WLTP-certified range close to 790 km. Mercedes-Benz is expected to introduce this long-range variant in India to cater to customers seeking both efficiency and everyday usability.
The CLA EV is based on Mercedes-Benz’s new MMA (Modular Mixed Architecture) platform, developed specifically for electric vehicles. It features a sleek, aerodynamic design with signature LED lighting, flush door handles, and a coupe-like silhouette. The EV also benefits from an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture that supports ultra-fast DC charging of up to 320 kW, allowing for rapid charging and reduced downtime. Inside, the cabin is expected to offer a tech-rich experience with digital displays, connected features, and premium materials.
While pricing and India-specific specifications are yet to be revealed, the CLA EV is expected to compete strongly in the luxury electric sedan segment. With its long driving range, fast-charging capability, and hallmark Mercedes-Benz comfort and technology, the CLA EV could attract buyers looking to transition to electric mobility without compromising on performance or luxury. More details are expected closer to the official launch.
