Suzuki is preparing to introduce the Jimny, a redesigned off-road vehicle with numerous safety measures and technology enhancements. The revised model will soon be available in other markets, such as India, where the five-door Jimny Nomade is highly sought after, after making its debut in Japan in August. It’s interesting to note that Suzuki has decided to keep the Jimny’s tough external appearance, keeping its distinctive boxy shape, upright grille, and round headlamps. Rather, the business has concentrated on improving the SUV’s convenience and safety features.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are one of the facelift’s most notable features. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, reverse brake support, and rear cross traffic alert—particularly on automatic models—are all part of Suzuki’s Safety Support Level 2 suite, which will now be available on the redesigned Jimny. With these upgrades, the Jimny’s safety has advanced significantly, making it more appropriate for off-road excursions as well as city driving.
The facelifted Jimny will still have the same 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine under the hood, which generates about 102 horsepower and 130–135 Nm of torque. It will still have the sturdy ladder-frame chassis and AllGrip Pro 4×4 system, and it will be available with a 4-speed automatic transmission or a manual gearbox. There are currently no plans for a fully electric Jimny, although Suzuki is looking into hybrid possibilities for a few areas.
The launch plan is for a first rollout in Japan, with subsequent deployments in Europe, Australia, India, and other international regions. In addition to improving the vehicle’s functioning, the technological advancements are meant to comply with safety standards in nations where the vehicle’s sale was previously restricted by more stringent laws. For example, following previous compliance issues, Suzuki was able to reintroduce the Jimny in Australia with the inclusion of ADAS.
Overall, Suzuki’s choice to put safety and technology ahead of aesthetic upgrades is a testament to the Jimny’s devoted following and strong brand identity. The redesigned Jimny, with features like ADAS, delivers the ideal balance of contemporary technology and tough performance, guaranteeing that it will continue to appeal to both urban drivers and adventurers.
