Suzuki is preparing to introduce the Jimny, a redesigned off-road vehicle with numerous safety measures and technology enhancements. The revised model will soon be available in other markets, such as India, where the five-door Jimny Nomade is highly sought after, after making its debut in Japan in August. It’s interesting to note that Suzuki has decided to keep the Jimny’s tough external appearance, keeping its distinctive boxy shape, upright grille, and round headlamps. Rather, the business has concentrated on improving the SUV’s convenience and safety features.
ADAS Boosts Safety
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) stand out as a key upgrade in the Jimny facelift. Suzuki now offers its Safety Support Level 2 suite in the updated model. It includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. The system also adds reverse brake support and rear cross-traffic alert. These features are mainly available in automatic variants. As a result, the Jimny now feels safer for both city driving and off-road trips.
Engine and Hardware Remain the Same
Suzuki continues with the same 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. It produces around 102 hp and 130–135 Nm of torque. The company has not made any mechanical changes. The Jimny still uses a ladder-frame chassis and the AllGrip Pro 4×4 system. Buyers can choose between a 4-speed automatic and a manual gearbox. Suzuki has not confirmed an electric version yet. However, it is exploring hybrid options for some markets.
Global Launch Strategy
Suzuki plans to launch the updated Jimny in phases. The rollout will begin in Japan. After that, the model will reach Europe, Australia, India, and other markets. The brand added these safety features to meet stricter global regulations. Earlier, some markets had restrictions due to safety norms. With ADAS, Suzuki has already reintroduced the Jimny in Australia.
Focus on Technology Over Design
Suzuki has focused more on safety and technology than design changes. This strategy highlights the Jimny’s strong identity and loyal fan base. With the new updates, the Jimny offers a better mix of modern tech and rugged performance. It continues to appeal to both city users and adventure enthusiasts.
