The Volvo EX30, the company’s most reasonably priced electric SUV in the Indian market, is set to make its debut in August 2025.
Why India?
Volvo is testing local assembly (CKD) for the EX30 at its Hoskote factory in Bengaluru as part of its plan to introduce one new EV to India annually. The EX40 and C40 Recharge models are going to follow a similar configuration.
Design & Platform

Built on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the EX30’s LED “Thor’s Hammer” headlamps, flush door handles, C-shaped tail lamps, and black roof finish all reflect Volvo’s contemporary style. During extensive road testing on highways such as the Jaipur–Delhi route, Indian prototypes have been heavily camouflaged.
Interior & Features
A vertical 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Volvo’s Google-based operating system, along with eco-friendly recycled materials for the upholstery and trim, will dominate the EX30’s sleek Scandinavian interior design. It is anticipated that safety will include numerous airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a full suite of ADAS technologies.
Battery, Performance & Range
Globally, the EX30 offers:
- A 51 kWh LFP battery (approx. 342 km WLTP range)
- A 69 kWh NMC battery (up to 474 km WLTP), available in both single-motor and dual-motor AWD variants delivering up to 427 bhp
The 69 kWh NMC battery is going to be included in India-spec cars, providing the long-range version and potentially both RWD and AWD options.
Pricing & Rivals
Estimates place the EX30’s ex-showroom price between ₹40 and ₹50 lakh, making it the most reasonably priced Volvo EV in India. It is going to face competition from high-end electric SUVs such the BMW iX1 (LWB), Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BYD Sealion 7.
Launch Timeline
Multiple sources indicate that the official Indian launch happens in August 2025, with full details on variants, pricing, and bookings to be disclosed at that time, despite Volvo having not issued any official confirmation.
