The Volvo EX30, the company’s most reasonably priced electric SUV in the Indian market, is set to make its debut in August 2025. Volvo is testing local assembly (CKD) for the EX30 at its Hoskote factory in Bengaluru as part of its plan to introduce one new EV to India annually. The EX40 and C40 Recharge models are going to follow a similar configuration.
Design & Platform

Built on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the EX30’s LED “Thor’s Hammer” headlamps, flush door handles, C-shaped tail lamps, and black roof finish all reflect Volvo’s contemporary style. During extensive road testing on highways such as the Jaipur–Delhi route, Indian prototypes have been heavily camouflaged.
Interior & Features
The Volvo EX30 features a clean Scandinavian interior with a strong focus on minimalism and sustainability. A large 12.3-inch vertical touchscreen sits at the center and runs Volvo’s Google-based operating system. The cabin uses eco-friendly recycled materials for the upholstery and trim, which enhances its premium feel. In addition, Volvo is expected to offer multiple safety features such as several airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a full suite of ADAS technologies, making the EX30 a safety-focused electric SUV.
Battery, Performance & Range
Globally, the Volvo EX30 comes with two battery options. The first is a 51 kWh LFP battery that delivers a range of around 342 km (WLTP). The second is a larger 69 kWh NMC battery that offers up to 474 km (WLTP). This version is available in both single-motor and dual-motor AWD configurations, producing up to 427 bhp. For India, Volvo is likely to introduce the 69 kWh battery pack. It may offer both RWD and AWD variants, focusing on longer range and better performance.
Pricing & Rivals
The Volvo EX30 is expected to be priced between ₹40 lakh and ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing could make it the most affordable Volvo EV in India. However, it will still compete in the premium electric SUV segment. Key rivals include the BMW iX1 (LWB), Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BYD Sealion 7.
Launch Timeline
Volvo has not officially confirmed the launch date yet. However, multiple reports suggest that the EX30 could launch in India in August 2025. At that time, the company is likely to reveal complete details, including variants, pricing, and booking information.
