BYD Prepares To Launch Atto 2 Electric SUV In India As Creta EV Competitor

Chinese EV giant BYD is gearing up to launch its much-anticipated Atto 2 electric SUV in India, aiming straight at rivals like the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti eVitara. Recently spotted testing on Indian roads, the Atto 2 reveals a stylish design with LED lighting, sporty alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, and rugged body cladding. Dimensionally, it measures about 4.31 m in length with a 2.62 m wheelbase, placing it firmly in the popular compact SUV category.

Interior & Features

The Atto 2 offers a premium and tech-rich cabin. It comes with a large 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. You also get ventilated seats, wireless charging, and ambient lighting. In addition, the SUV features a panoramic sunroof, which enhances the cabin experience.

Practicality is another strong point. The Atto 2 provides 400 litres of boot space, which can expand up to 1,340 litres when needed.

Safety & Technology

BYD focuses heavily on safety in the Atto 2. The SUV comes with Level-2 ADAS, which improves driver assistance and safety. It uses radars, ultrasonic sensors, and multiple cameras. As a result, it stays competitive with rivals in both safety and technology.

Battery, Performance & Range

The Atto 2 uses a 45.1 kWh Blade Battery paired with a powerful motor. This setup produces around 175 hp and 290 Nm of torque. The SUV delivers an estimated 380 km range (NEDC).
It can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, which makes it quick for its segment.

Charging is also convenient. It supports 65 kW fast charging and can go from 30% to 80% in under 30 minutes.

Platform & Overall Package

The Atto 2 is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0. This platform improves efficiency, performance, and safety. Overall, the SUV targets India’s fast-growing EV market with a strong mix of features and performance.

BYD Atto 2

Expected to launch between late 2025 and mid-2026, the BYD Atto 2 will be positioned as an “affordable premium” EV, with prices likely in the ₹18–25 lakh range. With strong rivals like the Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Harrier.ev, and Mahindra XEV 9e entering the same space, BYD’s Atto 2 will play a crucial role in strengthening the brand’s foothold in India and making electric SUVs more accessible to a wider audience.
