Volkswagen India has unveiled the Tayron R-Line, introducing a new flagship SUV for the Indian market. Positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron marks the brand’s entry into the premium three-row SUV segment. Built on the MQB EVO platform, the Tayron R-Line has been showcased as a blend of performance, space, and modern design, aimed at buyers looking for a sophisticated seven-seater SUV.

In terms of design, the Tayron R-Line carries sporty R-Line styling elements, including aggressive front and rear bumpers, a bold grille, sleek LED headlamps, and large alloy wheels. The interior is expected to be feature-rich, offering a digital instrument cluster, a large touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and premium upholstery, ensuring comfort and technology for all three rows of passengers.

Powering the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is expected to be a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 200 hp, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The SUV is also likely to come equipped with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, enhancing stability and driving confidence across varied road conditions while maintaining strong on-road performance.

Volkswagen plans to locally assemble the Tayron R-Line in India, helping the brand keep pricing competitive in the premium SUV space. The model is expected to launch in early 2026 and will take on rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and MG Gloster. With the Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen aims to strengthen its presence in the high-end SUV segment and expand its product portfolio in India.
